The Vasculitis Program is the largest vasculitis research laboratory in Montreal. Numerous local, national, and international studies are underway.

ONGOING STUDIES - RECRUTING: 

​

SONIC-GCA: Multicentre study evaluating optic nerve sheath ultrasound in giant cell arteritis (GCA). Diagnostic study with prospective follow-up to assess its value in diagnosis and monitoring.​

 

SONIC-TIME: Prospective substudy of SONIC-GCA evaluating early changes in optic nerve sheath diameter and temporal artery ultrasound following empiric glucocorticoid initiation in GCA.​

 

ATOM-GCA: Pilot study using applanation tonometry of the temporal arteries to detect local inflammation. 

 

CanVasc-R: National REDCap registry supporting longitudinal and collaborative vasculitis research. More than 500 participants enrolled!

 

VALHALLA: Prospective study aimed at developing a novel GCA prediction score combining clinical and ultrasound findings.

 

ABAGART: Phase 3 study of abatacept in GCA. Fourteen patients have already been enrolled, and recruitment is ongoing.

 

PrAAVail: Phase 2 RCT on the Safety and Efficacy of VIS954 in Adult Participants With Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody (ANCA)-Associated Vasculitis.

Recruitment starts in winter 2027.
